Adoption Series
Day Seven: He Is Faithful
I am very blessed. I have a network of people who support us in this journey. They pray for us and encourage us.
I used to think that we just had a group of amazing friends and family. Of course this is true… but when I take a step back and look, I see what He has been doing all these years.
He has been building a network of people for us. Nearly all of our close friends have been involved in adoption. Several of them are adopted, are adopting, or have adopted children. They truly understand the heartache and joy that comes with adopting.
It never ceases to amaze me that when I ask Him, He encourages me using these awesome people He has placed in my life. Sometimes it is one of these dear friends that shares a word of encouragement, other times a stranger will speak a word that I needed to hear, and other days I notice something beautiful and small that I know He arranged just for me.
I would love to be typing right now that we just received our referral after all these years of waiting. As I glance over at my phone just willing it to ring, it sits silent. BUT I know beyond a shadow of a doubt He has not forgotten me.
I have waited a long time to see this child’s face but I will wait as long as He needs me too. I wait while He moves all the pieces into place. He is so faithful.
I have learned a great many lessons from this experience, but probably the deepest and hardest to learn is that He is faithful. He provides the strength to continue, He directs my steps, He pursues me when I run because I mad, sad, or just frustrated with all of this. He is truly working all of this out.
I started writing our child’s story out when we first started this journey. I wrote about how all the pieces fell into place. About how He was leading us to them all this time. I want this child to know that they were wanted, loved, treasured in my heart for years, and that an Almighty God placed them in our family.
I still have no idea why He chose me for this responsibility but I know that He has been working on me and growing me to be able to follow Him on this journey.
