Lately it seems like awful news lurks in the world, our nations, sometimes within my own four walls. I know I’m supposed to cast my cares on the Lord, but sometimes these bad reports weigh me down. As I fumed over a personal problem while gardening, I spotted something strange. My lilies weren’t blooming, they were all buds. Upon closer inspection, I noticed these nasty weeds were wrapping around the lily’s stems. The weeds were pushing them on the ground. It seemed the weeds wanted to prevent the lilies from blossoming.

Cast Your Cares

While unraveling the weeds from the stems, I thought about how can I cast my  cares on the Lord. Then I heard the Father speak to me in the midst of my garden!

The Father told me I was letting the “weeds” of my life, the cares of this world, politics, saving money to support the long-term needs of my special needs son, were all dragging me down. These cares of life were blocking my calling, zapping my energy, and stealing God’s destiny over my life.

“Cast your cares on God; that anchor holds.” – Frank Moore Colby

He Cares For Me

Now, I realize I need to untangle my mind from worry and truly cast my cares on Him. I had to trust Him with each of my problems. God knows exactly how to untangle each of problem, since He’s a Father and He will take care of me for all of eternity.

So from now on, every time a care enters my mind, I’m casting the cares onto Him and focusing on his promises, his goodness and his unconditional love.

Amazingly, overnight the freed lilies bloomed, illustrating how I will bloom as well when I truly cast my cares on Him.

Prayer

In Jesus’ name help me cast all my cares upon You, help me realize you care for me. Help me Lord not to let the weeds of life hold me down and help me bloom into the destiny you have for me. Amen.

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7 KJV
