God’s Good Will

I remember being one confused believer some years ago. I wanted to do God’s will, but was afraid to miss out on what He really had for me. How was I going to know what was truly best for my life? I realize today that it is not so much about knowing what to do next, but rather, it is about having faith that God can lead us, and that He has a good plan for our lives.

At first glance, Mary could have been infinitely worried about getting pregnant with Jesus because she wasn’t yet married, and who would believe her to be miraculously pregnant with the Son of God? But God knew what He was doing. He revealed His will to Joseph when it mattered most. Joseph took Mary as his wife, and raised Jesus as his own son.

God doesn’t change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17, NIV) If God took care of Mary then, He can take care of us now. We may not be carrying Jesus in our bellies, but Christ lives in us. And we can all remember how He kept and protected us even when we didn’t know Him.

God is good, He has a good plan for our lives, and He takes good care of us. Let’s pray that He gives us the faith to believe so. If we desire to do God’s will, He will lead us on the right path. “For
the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.” (Psalm 1:6, NIV) We only need to focus on the Lord and His will. He will show us the way.

Prayer

My God, forgive me for not having enough faith to believe that You are good, and that You are good to me. Free me from my fears, and help me trust in You. You are a good, good Father. You know the number of hair on my head, and the number of days of my life. May they be pleasing to You, of Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen!

Closer to Christ

What decision to you hesitate to make? What does God’s Word have to say about it? If you know you are walking in righteousness, simply trust that God is good, and will show you the way. If you have any doubt that your pride and selfish desires may be taking you on the wrong path, surrender it at the foot of the cross. We all have those moments. We all need Jesus.
