Let Us Not Become Weary In Doing Good
I first wrote about my orchids in June of 2017. It’s now January of 2019. Would you believe that my orchids never sprouted flowers in all that time?
Sad but true.
I have iced them consistently. Nothing. I have changed their pots. Nothing. I have added potting chips. Nothing.
The only reason I kept doing all of these things is that there were signs of life. Once I got excited because they sprouted a new ‘branch’, but after what I thought was careful attention, it withered up and nothing happened.
Lately, out of frustration for my orchids, and my consistent watering, and not seeing any results, I was tempted to tell my mom to take them. I had also been less than diligent about icing them. Why bother? Nothing is happening. So I started half heartedly doing it, when I remembered.
Somehow in the last week, I took the time to look at one of them, and realized that a new branch had sprouted. And it had not just sprouted, but it’s actually grown over 3 – 4 inches long. While I thought my efforts had been futile, there were things still happening. I’m still waiting for it to actually flower, but I am encouraged that something is indeed happening.
Do you feel this way about something in your life? You have seemingly been doing all the right things, with no visible results?
I want to encourage you today – do not give up. Galatians 6:9 states – ‘Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.’
Today, I pray that you, nor me, will give up, but will reap the rewards in the proper time.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I am grateful for these lessons. Help me to continue to do the little things that I should do – even when frustrated at the lack of results. Help me to see that these instructions are building my character, for use in your kingdom.
