Life isn’t always rosy. Sometimes it hits you hard, like a boulder knocking you off balance.

What is the Bible’s solution to that?

To be joyful and thank God, no matter what.

But let’s face it. It isn’t always easy to thank God. It becomes more difficult when you’re experiencing loss or grief.

That’s when thoughts like ‘why did God let it happen’ come to you. Or worse, you might wonder if you made a mistake or you missed a step in your Christian walk.

My family experienced a series of losses recently, and some of these thoughts came to my mind. I asked myself, “What did I do wrong? Why didn’t I see it coming? Why didn’t I stop it before it happened?”

But as I prayed, it occurred to me that Jesus didn’t promise us only blessings. He promised us suffering and persecution too.

He said, “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world. [My conquest is accomplished. My victory abiding.] John 16:33 Amp

He simply assured me of victory when things don’t pan out well.

And how will I be able to experience this victory in difficult times? By letting peace and joy flood my heart while thanking God.

So, I won’t allow any hardship to come between me and him.

I will thank God, because I know that I am more than a conqueror. And greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world.

One thing you’ve got to realize is that unfavorable circumstances reveal the stuff you’re made of. Thanking God, when the storms of life want to drown you, makes you stronger.

Remember that God will never leave you, and don’t quit. Just keep believing in him. Let the word of God spring up in your heart. And praise him, even when it’s hard.

Because thanking God in everything proves your faith.

I’ve made up my mind that no matter what’s happening, I’ll fight the good fight of faith. I’ll keep marching on. I’ll thank God, even when it’s hard. How about you?
