As followers of Jesus Christ, God has blessed us with every imaginable spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3). These divine spiritual blessings flow from God’s throne of grace, saturating our lives through our union with Christ. What are these remarkable blessings we are inheriting both now and for eternity?
Righteousness, Wisdom and Redemption
The first spiritual blessings involve righteousness, wisdom, sanctification and redemption (1 Corinthians 1:30). Through faith in Christ, we are counted righteous before God. Though we fall short of God’s glory, Christ’s perfect sacrifice cleanses us of all sin so that God sees us as spotless and holy. We also gain the very mind of Christ – supernatural wisdom, discernment and understanding radiating from the all-knowing Spirit within us. Additionally, the blood of Jesus sanctifies us. Sin no longer has dominion over us; we have freedom and power to resist temptation. Finally, Christ redeeming work leads to ultimate glorification. One day the curse of death and decay will be fully reversed; we will inhabit resurrected bodies built to last and reflect God’s glory for eternity.
The Fruit of the Spirit
Additional spiritual blessings from God include the fruit of the Spirit:
- (Galatians 5:22)
Imagine emanating divine love – selflessly serving others above ourselves. What about showcasing remarkable patience – responding gently even when offended or insulted. Or walking in gentleness and humility – considering others above ourselves.
By staying spiritually connected to Christ, these miraculous blessings become infused into our character.
Eternal Life and Reward
Two of the greatest spiritual blessings are eternal life and eternal reward. Through faith in Jesus, we break free from the vicious cycle of sin and death – instead receiving forgiveness and the gift of never-ending life (John 3:16).
Our earthly lives represent mere preparation for eternity. One day we will fully inherit and inhabit God’s coming kingdom. No more tears, pain, sorrow or death – only sheer delight in perfect relationship with God and one another (Revelation 21:3-4).
We will not simply exist forevermore but also reign alongside Jesus!
Powerful Spiritual Resources
To walk consistently in these blessings, God provides additional spiritual resources. We receive the Holy Spirit – God’s empowering presence within us (John 14:16-17).
We also inherit the full armor of God for spiritual combat (Ephesians 6:10-18) – wielding divine weapons to counter the powers of darkness seeking to oppose God’s purposes through us. And most of all, we have direct access to our Heavenly Father through prayer (Romans 8:15). Just like Jesus did during His earthly ministry, we can receive divine wisdom, encouragement, strength or intervention anytime simply by asking.
Our Daily Spiritual Privileges
Regardless of earthly circumstances, we can live every day in the reality of these spiritual blessings by abiding deeply in Christ. Despite facing various trials or hardships, we walk in supernatural love, joy and peace – reflecting the endless supply of the Spirit within us (Galatians 5:22-23).
No weapon formed against us can prevail as God fights for us against injustice or oppression (Isaiah 54:17). Even the sting of death holds no power, for our inheritance includes new resurrected bodies far greater than our current earthly tents (2 Corinthians 5:1-5).
And most glorious of all, we can enter into God’s presence anytime and anywhere – communing with Him face-to-face, seeking His wisdom, and experiencing a foretaste of future glory (Hebrews 4:16). Therefore while it’s wonderful to reflect on the fullness of our eternal destiny, we do not have to wait until Heaven to start benefiting from these remarkable spiritual privileges. They are ours in Christ today.
Embracing Our Spiritual Blessings
What glorious spiritual riches God pours out on us as followers of Jesus Christ! These blessings far surpass the most spectacular physical wealth imaginable. Just stop and consider – we stand totally purified by Christ’s blood before a holy God, bear His wisdom and resurrection life within, and will one day partner with Him ruling a kingdom with no end.
As we bask in gratitude and awe for these realities, it fuels passion to align our earthly lives with our true citizenship in heaven (Philippians 3:20). No sacrifice becomes too great when we catch a glimpse of the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ (Philippians 3:7-8).
Therefore, let us fix our eyes upon Him – throwing off sin that ensnares us, running with perseverance the race marked out for us, and living boldly in light of our spiritual inheritance until that Glorious Day when faith becomes sight.
