Do you ever feel like your relationship with God is lacking? Do you struggle to see how the gospel really changes your day-to-day life? You’re not alone. Many Christians grapple with fully embracing the abundant blessings in Christ, freely given to us through faith in Jesus.

But God’s word reminds us that blessings in Christ are not in short supply. The apostle Paul offers encouragement by highlighting nine incredible blessings for believers in Ephesians 1. Refreshing our perspective on these blessings fuels our gratitude and helps us walk confidently in our identity as dearly loved children of God.

So what blessings await those who put their trust in Christ? Let’s explore Paul’s list:

We Gain a Heavenly Position

When you placed your faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior, you were adopted into God’s family. You now hold the privileged status of a dearly loved son or daughter with full access to your Heavenly Father. This new position connects you to “every spiritual blessing” and grants you a seat at the table in heaven’s throne room (Eph. 1:3). Meditate on the wonder that you have a home awaiting you for eternity even while living on this earth.

We Are Chosen and Accepted

God selected you to be made holy and blameless through Jesus prior to the beginning of time (Eph. 1:4). There’s no coercion or performance required – just wide open arms welcoming you into the family. His choice and acceptance liberate you from striving so you can rest securely in who God says you are.

We Are Adopted As Treasured Children

Out of pure, sacrificial love, God adopts us as His treasured children through the blood of Jesus (Eph. 1:5-6, John 3:16). There is no greater love. Once lost, now found and forever held close.

We Are Lavished With Undeserved Grace

The overflow of God’s grace washes over His children through forgiveness and redemption (Eph. 1:7-8). Though we are utterly undeserving as sinners, He pours out His kindness, patience, and grace when we don’t expect it or earn it. As recipients of this lavish grace, we get a glimpse of God’s heart.

We Gain Clarity of Purpose

As followers of Jesus, our lives take on cosmic significance in bringing glory to God. He invites us to partner with Him in redeeming all things through Christ (Eph. 1:9-10). New life purpose emerges from identity, not duty.

We Become Heirs To A Glorious Inheritance

Picture this: gathered around the family table in our eternal home, knowing we belong and living fully in God’s awesome presence. This glorious future awaits as co-heirs with Christ (Eph. 1:11-12). Our eternal destiny far surpasses our wildest dreams.

The Holy Spirit Seals Our Eternity

God deposits His very Spirit into our hearts as a validation of our identity and a guarantee of the coming glory (Eph. 1:13-14). The Spirit continually reassures us of the Father’s love and shapes us into Christ’s image.

Prayer Unleashes Heaven’s Power

Through prayer, we commune deeply with our God as His empowered children. He invites us to partner with Him through prayer to unleash His power in redeeming all things (Eph. 1:15-23). As we intercede, we join an epic story of restoration.

Child of God, drink up these blessings. Soak in the love poured out for you. Be amazed by the wonder of bearing God’s image. And live each moment rooted in the abundance found in your Savior. You have an eternity’s worth of blessings to unfold.
